Riesling Grand Cru Muenchberg

The quiet one at the party who turns out to be the most interesting person in the room. This is Riesling from the Muenchberg Grand Cru, farmed by Patrick Meyer at Domaine Julien Meyer in Nothalten, Alsace, where the family has worked the vines holistically since 1999. Wild yeasts, a long rest on its lees, and nothing forced. It's stony, electric and so precise it almost hums.

Crystalised by The xx is the match: minimal, a little tense, and beautiful in the space between the notes. Pour it slightly chilled, put the record on, and let it open up over the night.
